Do Arnie and James Cameron have some 3D breaking news coming soon? (I do hope it’s 3D related..)

AE2420 comes with 3D glasses and THX-certified audio

MSI soft has launched its first all-in-one 3D PC, which comes with a set of the company’s own 3D shutter glasses – and we got a sneak peak at a preview in Taiwan.

The Wind Top AE2420 3D – which could really have done with a more consumer friendly name – has a 23.6-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

It works in conjunction with active-shuttered 3D glasses, (the screen looks like it’s flickering without), alternating images between your left and right eye at 60Hz. The end result? Pictures and video appear to be in 3D.?

This technology is the most widely adopted kind in home consumer products to date, although there are several different standards and MSI is not using Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology for this setup.

Instead it is Taiwanese panel maker Chimei that supplies the tech in this instance, so there’s hope that other systems will be compatible with the 3D glasses. The system on display, as well as the 3D glasses were both the final version, unlike the products previously shown

The all-in-one also features THX-certified speakers, although it was too noisy at the launch event to be able to tell how good they sounded.

Other features include a selection of Intel Core i3/i5 or i7 processors, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000-series graphics and a HDMI output for those that would like to watch their movies on a slightly larger screen.

No pricing was revealed, but we should find out more details next week at Computex in Taipei.
